Online Forum Assignment

Discussion #1: Tom Henderson

General Directions: As a response to the issues presented in the case study, each group will compose a letter to the local school board. Specific directions are listed below. There are two parts to the assignment, an independent contribution and the final group letter. Both independent and group work must be completed for credit to be earned.

Each member of each group will submit a draft letter online for the other group members’ consideration. The group will then prepare a final draft and post this to the discussion. Every member of the group will “sign off” on the final letter as evidence that each member contributed to the final draft.

1. Choose one of the following roles from the scenario as the context for your letter: a) Tom Henderson; b) a school colleague; or c) a parent.
2. Make a decision in that role in support of or opposition to the decision-making course being taught.
3. Compose a letter to the school board clearly stating your position regarding the decision-making course offered by Tom Henderson.
4. Explain your position in relation to your chosen role.
5. Cite appropriate evidence for your position, especially using relevant concepts or content from our course and/or other professional experiences to support your position.
6. Make a clear and explicit recommendation for a course of action to be considered by the school board.
