Course objectives: This course is a study of French theater from the medieval period to modern days. We will pay special attention to the literary but also historical and cultural aspects of theater: the theatrical space, acting and directing, as well as modern cinematographic adaptations will be carefully examined. We will also have the opportunity to work closely with the UNCW production of Phèdre.
