Role-plays. Choose one.

  1. You are at the café des Deux-Moulins in Paris, trying to decide what to order for lunch. Ask the waiter/waitress what he/she recommends. Make sure you understand everything that is on the menu, and place your order. Don’t forget to order a drink as well. Eat your lunch and report any problem to the waiter/waitress. Pay and leave.

  1. You are French and your family has agreed to host an American student for one year. You’re meeting the American student for the first time—his/her French is excellent; you’re surprised! Ask him/her questions about himself/herself, his/her family, his/her hobbies, what he/she studies etc. He/she will do the same. Will you two get along?

  1. Next semester, you will be spending a semester in Paris, so you are looking for an apartment there. You’re meeting with a landlord who says he/she has something for rent that may interest you. Ask questions about the apartment: its location, rooms and furniture, the cost of course, etc. Will the landlord succeed in convincing you to rent his/her place?
