These
programs require no installation to run. The upshot of this
is
you can store them on a thumb-drive or cd-rom and be able to use them
from any computer. This is a benefit for presenters who
travel to
strange computers or students who regularly access computers from labs
or checked-out laptops.

FreeMind is a mind mapping software designed for notetaking and thought
gathering. Fun graphical user interface allows visual
manipulation of thoughts in a visual hiearchy. Perfect for
phylogenic charts. Could do the periodic table of the
elements in
this too.
