Chapter 18
Creating Reader-Centered Web Pages and Websites
Web Page Files
Web page files consist of commands that tell your computer
how to create the images on your screen. These commands are
written in special computer language such as HTML or XML.
Web Browser
The browser (IE, Netscape, or Firefox, for example) performs
three functions: It locates the web page file for the web page you
want to visit, it downloads a copy of the file to your computer's
memory, and it uses the instructions in the file to construct the
display you see.

Web Editors
To create a web page, some people write the code themselves.
Most, however, use a web editor (FrontPage or Dreamweaver) that
helps them to design the appearance and content of a finished page
while the program automatically creates a file with the necessary
code.
