• Check your webspace> go to ftp://student.uncw.edu > login
• You may see an index file or other files you've created in the past.   note: if you cannot access this area then you must contact tac@uncw.edu to assess the problem.
• Minimize your FTP space
• Open Microsoft FrontPage
• Open a new document--then do-- <file> <save as> save as your first name.htm and save to the desktop (you should see an IE icon on your desktop after you save the document)
• In the new document insert a background color by going to <format> <background>
• The color should now be on your page as a background
• Next, choose a font color and type your first name in all capital letters
• Save the document  again.
• Close Microsoft FrontPage
• Drag the document from your desktop to your FTP space.
• The IE icon should appear in your FTP space
• Now, open a web browser
• type in the following:  http://student.uncw.edu/youremailprefix/firstname.htm
• Your document should appear as you created it.  Note the difference in the web address and the FTP space where you house the document.  FTP stands for "File Transfer Protocol."
