Nevoeiro

This is one of the first images I ever printed successfully. It took me weeks (well, weekends) to get it to look the way I saw it in my mind. I learned a lot in the process. The view is from the top of the Serra de Estrela in central Portugal. The Serra de Estrela is a massive mountain range that seems to pop out of the central plain without warning. It is an area not much known outside of Portugal - and perhaps that is a good thing. Farmers in the area make a fantastic raw sheep's milk cheese (Queijo da Serra) that is quite expensive and worth every penny.

We had spent a weekend in the Serra and were on our way home. It was late afternoon sometime in the fall. The temperature was dropping and fog began to fill in the low lying valleys. When we drove around a bend in the road we came upon this view and I felt as if I was about to take off. And life is all about flying.
