Another image from the botanical garden, near the old University in Coimbra. This moorish-style fountain is hidden in a back corner of the garden,
right
next to a wall that
separates the publically accessible part from the greenhouses. I knew I had to take the picture later in the afternoon, because I needed the sun
to peak through the trees behind the wall. I wanted this to be a happy, yet mysterious image because that's what it felt like to me. I also remember
having to disturb a young
couple that had found a private spot on a stone bench next to the fountain. Neddless to say, I can be quite ruthless when it comes to taking pictures.
I slightly diffused
the image in the camera (by breathing onto the lens) to get the soft highlights to bleed into the shadows. Again, I partially bleached the
image and toned
in thiourea to warm the highlights.
